Love In Its Many Forms

November 21, 2002

Yesterday I fell in love. Okay, it was the day before yesterday, but let's not get technical.

Anyway, there I was, scootering through a parking lot next to McDonald's, when my heart was stolen right from my chest. Sitting there, in that very McDonald's parking lot, was... a beautiful, shiny, silver, two-seater scooter!

Yes, friends, it was love at first sight. It was sitting in the middle of several motorcycles, gleaming in the... well, not sun, but semi-cloudy light. This is Oregon in the fall, after all.

*sigh* Someday, someday I will have such a scooter. It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but someday, I will have one to call my own.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Purple Plaything. It holds a very special place in my heart. But I would dearly love going over 28mph once in a while, get outside of my little town's borders, that sort of thing. One day it will happen.

Girls kick ass, indeed.

In furry little creatures news, as I sit here listening to the various cats in the household race up and down the hallway, I ponder all that life is and could be... but mostly I want to strangle Tango the Wonder Kitty for chewing through the cord of my headphones.

Silly me, I left them sitting on my bed while I went to the bathroom. When I came back, Tango had the severed cord on the floor and he was chewing on it. I would take the cost of replacement out of his allowance if he received any in the first place.

In related news, here's a fun activity I think every single one of you should take part in: come over to my house, use the bathroom while Tango's in the room, and jump 2 or 3 feet into the air after Tango, who will be sitting behind the toilet, reaches up and tries to play with your bottom. It's good times. And, heck, we all need a thrill here and there to liven up our days.

Speaking of thrills, spiffily talented and eternally young bard Mavis Applewater (happy belated birthday, Mavis!) informed me this last week marks the 77th PWP story she's written. 77!! And, of course, we all read them for their plots and not just their creative, titillating, and all around temperature rising love scenes. If you haven't read all of them yet, head on over to her site at:

http://www.angelfire.com/ma4/findingmavis

Most of them have been posted, if not all. I didn't count. I don't have enough fingers and toes to go that high. Oh, and as an FYI, she posts them to her mailing list before they go up on the site. Don't forget to have some ice cubes handy for those, uh... inspiring love scenes she writes.

I would also suggest having one of those detachable massaging shower heads for the bathtub handy, but I don't want to appear perverted. The picture of innocence, I am. :)

In this very list news, my pal Val (aka the spiffy bard Cephalgia) suggested I make this list somehow interactive, so we can all meet some of you obviously intelligent and talented folks out there.. I think that's what she said, anyway. I wasn't really paying attention. Anyway, she has a suggestion and a helpful tip:

"Are you taking submissions for ramble ideas? If you are I have a small health tip to pass along. This came to me this morning. I went out for my day off 2 1/2 mile walk. It seems winter has sort of snuck up on me. By the time I got back my face was frozen and I'm just now (an hour later) getting the feeling back in my fingers. Come to find out it was only 39 degrees out there. Thank God I had a headset on or my ears would have been icicles. So, here is the tip. Check the frippin' Weather Channel BEFORE you go out. Local weather on the 8's. No need to freeze. Seems simple in hindsight. Hmm, maybe in retrospect I shouldn't admit to my stupidity."

Sure you should, Val! Just think of all the people you're helping! So, friends, if you have any suggestions, questions, etc., let me know. Who knows, maybe you, too, could strut your stuff (and appear not at *all* silly in the process, I swear!) right here in this space. Your mothers would be proud.

In Random Ramblings site news, I'm working on getting it together. We had my 12-year-old nephew at the house this past week, so I didn't get much of anything done, really. Well, I fell in love with a scooter, but that's it. But my nephew's gone home, so I'll get back to work. Right after I sleep for the next week to recover from having him here. Did I mention he's a 12-year-old boy? A very active 12-year-old boy? Did I mention I'm an old fuddy duddy? Okay, so maybe 28 isn't old, technically speaking, but compared to him... eh. I'm ancient. And, really, I *am* more like 28 and a half. That's practically one foot in the grave.

Right?

:-)
