Home of the all-too-true Tango the Wonder Kitty and Purple Plaything tales!
You Are All My Friends November 14, 2002
*sniff* I'm so touched. And I don't mean just in the head. What I mean is... you like me, you really like me! Yes, friends, as of right now, 63 folks (only two of which are me -- talk about being beside myself) have signed up for this list. *sigh* It's a beautiful thing. In this inaugural issue... er, post... I'm going to explore some hard hitting topics, such as why I spent $12 on a little M&M Christmas train thingie, and why I can't go anywhere on my Purple Plaything (yes, it's still a Honda scooter) without someone asking me if I get good mileage on it. Actually, I don't really have anything else to say on that last one. Just thought I'd mention it. But the M&M thing... it's adorable. Wanna see a somewhat blurry picture? http://www.iwantalife.com/ramblings/images/mm_train.jpg Each car of the train came as the top to a tube of M&M's. Nothing like chocolate and cute little plastic candy-themed creatures to get one in the holiday spirit. Of course, I don't have the Halloween decorations put away yet (they're sitting in boxes in the living room), but that's not the point. The point is... uh... huh. Seems I don't have one. Sorry. But the train's cute, eh? Say, do you think it's too early to get out my animated Santa collection? Oh, speaking of that, I also kinda bought a fiber optic snowy village the other day. I really should never step foot into a store, especially around the holidays. Anyway, here's a picture... it's adorable, too: http://www.iwantalife.com/ramblings/images/village.jpg I'm not obsessed, am I? I did manage to pass up a little fiber optic tree and fiber optic train... that's good, right? Of course, that was more of a financial decision than anything. I do have to buy silly little things like food, etc. One can't live on Christmas decorations, after all. Nope.... hey, yes one can! I have four tubes of green and red M&M's! That's a balanced, nutritional meal, right? Green obviously stands for vegetable, and red is for... uh, something else good for you, so if I wash it down with milk, I'll be all set. Or not. In Tango the Wonder Kitty news, I am now firmly convinced it's a good thing to try to become permanently attached to my chest. Okay, that didn't sound right. But every time I sit down, he's there just waiting for me to lean back a little bit so he can climb up and lay down on my chest. That didn't really sound right, either. Anyway, he really needs to learn my bare leg is *not* a scratching post. When I'm sitting at my desk using my computer, he has a tendency to put his paws up on my leg to let me know he wants up. Which is fine when I'm wearing pants. If I'm wearing shorts... let's just say I have more than my share of little scratch marks on my upper legs. Butler, one of my other cats, does the same thing. Of course, he's Tango's apprentice in evil, and he likes to copy whatever Tango does, so he uses my leg to climb up into my lap. Fortunately he hasn't decided to copy the whole laying on my chest thing. Yet. I'm waiting. And bleeding, because Butler just climbed up here via my leg. He's not exactly graceful. Tango pretty much is, thankfully, or I would have bled to death already. Why do I have cats again? I know it's been said having cats lowers one's blood pressure. My blood pressure is nice and low, but that could be more from the loss of blood than anything. I've just realized Tango and Butler are a lot like Pinky and the Brain, a couple of cartoon mice characters. Tango, of course, is Brain, the smart one who's always trying to take over the world. Butler is the intellectually challenged Pinky who follows along with whatever Tango decides to do. Maybe they should make a new cartoon... it could be a cat version of the show called "Tango and the Butt." I'm sure it would be a smash hit. In will wonders never cease news, I actually read a full-length uberish story the other night... which, incidentally, kept me up all night because I couldn't stop reading it. It's a lovely alt story called Graceful Waters by B L Miller and Verda Foster, available at: http://www.womenwhoroar.com/verdas_kaleidoscope/stories/graceful_waters1.htm It definitely earns a Celine Recommends. I don't know what came over me because I haven't been able to read much of anything lately, but I looked at the beginning of the story when I was saving it for future reading, and kinda became hooked. Oh, well... who needs sleep, anyway. Don't forget to feed the bards. In random ramblings news, I'm working on making a site (http://www.iwantalife.com/ramblings) to go along with this mailing list... so, a question. Do you want the option of reading this stuff on a web site? If so, let me know. If not, there's no need to respond. Thank ya much. In health news, I'm still hangin' in there. Someone asked me what my doctor recommended to help get over Epstein Barr... nothing, really, except for rest. So that's what I'm doing. I feel like a slug because I can't do much of anything, but such is life. At least Tango is finding a benefit from it, since he gets to lay on my chest more often, or lay in bed with me... right on my pillow, curled up around my arm, with his behind in my face. Why he chooses to lay there I just don't know. I'm not sure I *want* to know. I really think Tango is an alien. It's the only explanation. That's it for now. Thanks for joining this list... I hope I don't disappoint. |
