Toilet Santas, Cat Invades Village, and Rein-dogs December 12, 2002
I am such a happy camper. My mother, bless her demented little heart, has bestowed upon me three new animated figures to add to my santas, etc., collection. Yes, friends, I am now the proud owner of a dancing flamingo who sings a Christmas song, a santa who sits on a toilet and sings a Christmas song, and a little hamster who -- now get this -- sings a Christmas song. They are absolutely adorable, and I am in love. Of course, I took pictures.
The trio:
And individual photos: Aren't they cute? In case you're wondering where they came from, http://www.spencergifts.com had the toilet santa, and the other two came from http://www.stupid.com. But, before you go rushing off to get some for your very own, I'm afraid as of this writing, the toilet santa is sold out, and the flamingo might be, too. They might be in stock at a later time, so go on and give it a go... I know you want to. In Christmas village news, I don't even have it set up yet, and it's already been invaded. I have my village houses sitting on the top of the piano in a random fashion, since I haven't found time to actually set them up properly. My cat Butler has been up there at least five times... that I know of. The other day he got up there and fell asleep. he was so cute I couldn't move him an inch. http://www.iwantalife.com/ramblings/images/butler_village.jpg I figured it would be Tango the Wonder Kitty, not Butler. Silly me. But, then again, Tango did keep my poor mother up all night by knocking things over in her room, so I guess he was tired. In Christmas tree news, we finally decorated it after several days of it sitting in the living room, barren of all decorations. Well, the top was on it. The darned tree ended up being about 9' tall, so it was a bit difficult to decorate. But it's finished now, and very soon, I'll be taking pictures of that, the village, and the santas, and I will share them all with you. Why? Because I can. In antler news, I couldn't convince Tango to wear the antlers, but I did get my chow Tai to do it, albeit briefly. http://www.iwantalife.com/ramblings/images/tai_antlers.jpg The spiffy bard Trish Kocialski (http://www.trishkocialski.com) suggested putting the antlers on Tango and then putting him on the printer to keep him happy. That's a great idea, but unfortunately, Tango is too smart for that. He just knocked off the antlers and went back to pressing buttons on the printer. In other kitty news, a lovely lady named Erin shared this story about her mother's cat, Homey: "Also a very resourceful cat like Tango, her cat likes to have lots of attention in the morning. Homey (the cat) discovered that if she walked on top of the clock radio and pressed all the buttons up there loud noises would come forth thus waking the humans from wasteful slumber. Once she discovered the successful method of getting attention, she started using it regularly. The parental units were not happy, as you might imagine. Eventually my father resorted to completely encasing the clock with a piece of cardboard in order to get some sleep in the mornings. LMAO They have a nice, elegant room with the clock encased in big, ugly cardboard!" Homey definitely sounds like Tango. He's actually been trying to climb *inside* my printer, and really gets ticked when I take the paper out of the tray so he can't play with it or print on it. Incidentally, my grandmother once had a stuffed cat she named Homey. I don't know why she named him that. She was in her eighties at the time. I'm off to go play with my new santas now, because, gosh darn it, nothing says Christmas like a flamingo. Or a toilet. |
