Home of the all-too-true Tango the Wonder Kitty and Purple Plaything tales!
No Rest For The Holiday Obsessed December 2, 2002
Happy Hanukkah, friends! Yep, we are now officially into the post-Thanksgiving holiday season. Which means I've started setting up my animated Santa (and related) collection today. I'm obviously insane, for two reasons (okay, so there are more than two). One, for having so many, and two, for getting them out year after year. It's a pain the wazoo. I decided to also set up my Christmas village, which I haven't done for the last two years... in other words, since I brought Tango the Wonder Kitty home. He kinda likes to play with everything, you know, and I didn't think it would be a good idea. But I'm going to this year, because, as I've already mentioned, I'm insane. Tango and his partner in crime, Butler, will just have to be good little boys and not play with the little people and houses. I've obviously cracked. Have I mentioned Tango stole one of my shoes from the family room and I found it the next day in the floor of my bedroom, complete with little teeth marks on it (the shoe, not the floor)? The village will go on top of the piano (an upright), which leaves less room for the santas, because a good chunk of my santas went on the piano. I'm having to scrunch them into a much smaller space. Funny, I don't remember having this many santas last year. I haven't bought any new ones this year except for some small figurines, I swear. Maybe the various santas mated while in their tote bins. I did, however, buy my niece a 28" stuffed dear (the toy variety, not a real one) for Christmas. At least, it's supposed to be for my niece. I've kind of taken a liking to it myself, and it really fits in with my santas... I mean, really, what's a santa without a reindeer? Okay, so it's not, technically, a reindeer, but it's very close. Wanna see it? http://www.iwantalife.com/ramblings/images/reindeer.jpg I love my niece, but gosh darn it, it's cute. They only had one at the store. Would it be bad if I kept it? I would get her something else, of course. And, hey, she lives in another state, so mailing that big thing would be a chore. It would be best to get her something smaller. Right? Right?? Um, well, we'll see. I'll keep you posted. ;) In it's all relative news, my nephew's father bought my sister, who is his ex-girlfriend, a Christmas tree and one for us, as well, people he really doesn't care for, but he did it for my nephew, I'm guessing. So my sister's fiance will be bringing it by this week. This is good news. We didn't end up with a tree last year. So Tango and Butler will have more to play with in the form of decorations on the lower and not so lower branches. We wouldn't want them getting bored, now would we? We do have a tree stand no cat has been able to knock over, not even Tango, though he did give it a go two years ago. Then again, he was but a kitten at the time, and now he has Butler to assist him. Maybe we should bolt it to the wall. The tree, that is, not Tango. No, Tango will continue to have free reign of the house, because (say it with me now!) I'm insane. He's cute, though, so I guess that makes it all right. |
